01
Project Overview
Skill Galaxy reimagines the developer portfolio as a journey through space. Skills are rendered as planets, projects form constellations between them, and scroll drives a cinematic story from origin to contact.
02
Problem
Most portfolios look the same: a hero, a grid of cards and a list of logos. They say what someone knows, but not how the pieces fit together — and they are rarely memorable.
03
Solution
A single strong metaphor — my skills are a galaxy, my projects connect them — expressed through WebGL, scroll choreography and restrained motion, with a fully accessible and lightweight fallback.
04
My Role
Concept, design & development
- Concept, art direction and motion language
- Custom GLSL planet, atmosphere and starfield shaders
- Scroll choreography with GSAP ScrollTrigger
- Performance tiers, accessibility and responsive fallbacks

Key Features
01
Procedural planets
Each skill has its own shader-driven planet — no textures to download.
02
Cinematic scroll
Pinned transitions and a horizontal journey are driven by scroll, not timers.
03
Adaptive quality
Particle counts, pixel ratio and effects scale with the device; phones get a bespoke 2D experience.
04
Accessible by default
Every 3D interaction has a keyboard-friendly equivalent and respects reduced motion.

Challenges
- 01
Performance budget
Two WebGL scenes had to coexist with scroll animations while staying smooth on mid-range laptops.
- 02
Motion restraint
The hardest part was deciding what not to animate so the story stays clear.
09
What I Learned
- A strong concept makes every design decision easier.
- Shaders can replace heavy textures entirely.
- Reduced-motion and mobile versions deserve their own design, not just less animation.
10
Result
A portfolio that feels like an experience while staying fast, accessible and easy to update through typed data files.
