01
Project Overview
AutoMarket is an operating system for small vehicle import businesses. It follows each car from auction purchase through shipping, customs and listing to final sale — and shows the real profit at every step.
02
Problem
Importers track vehicles across spreadsheets, chats and invoices. Costs like transport, duties and repairs get lost, so the true margin on each car is only known — if at all — long after it is sold.
03
Solution
A single pipeline where every vehicle carries its own cost ledger. Stages, documents and expenses live together, and live profitability charts show which purchases are worth repeating.
04
My Role
Product design & full-stack development
- Discovery sessions with importers to map the real workflow
- Data model for vehicles, stages and cost ledgers
- Dashboard, charts and responsive UI
- Authentication and role-based access with Supabase

Challenges
- 01
Modelling messy reality
Costs arrive in different currencies and at different times; the ledger had to stay accurate as information trickled in.
- 02
Charts people trust
Profit charts needed to explain themselves, so every number links back to the vehicles and costs behind it.
- 03
Secure multi-user data
Row-level security policies keep each business's data isolated without complicating the client code.
09
What I Learned
- Sitting with real users beats guessing at workflows.
- A good data model makes the UI almost write itself.
- Postgres row-level security is a powerful default for multi-tenant apps.
10
Result
